Do I need to be handy to use this?

Nope. The Managed Trades Edition is written for people who want to hire out every bit of licensed work — you're just managing the project. If you're handier, the DIY Edition shows you what you can legally do yourself (tiling, painting, product install) and what you must hire out (plumbing, electrical, waterproofing). You get both editions, so pick whichever fits your skill level.

What if I'm only doing part of it myself?
